.... there are some strange rumors that ipod touch will on rare occasion have real time GPS-like performance even when the ipod is unlikely to have access to wifi (like on the highway).

Perhaps we'll see GPS unlocked as incentive to upgrade to v. 4.0?

My only disappointment in the iPhone is that is DOES NOT have the voice GPS. I suppose they weren't thinking that having to look at a map to see where you were in regards to seeing where you have to go, without a voice telling you, would be extremely dangerous for the drive with the iPhone, but for those he is in traffic with. I see many phones less expensive that have this feature.
Why is Apple dragging it's core to see that this is a standard feature on the iPhone.l

I love my iPhone, but now I need to buy a voiced GPS for another $200 or more to put on my dash to tacky it up so that I won't get lost and some voice can tell me make a legal u-turn.

There was no light sensor on the front of the first iPod Touch, why would they move it now??? I think it's a speaker for listening to calls. Also, I want external speaker and mic, please??? I'm probably not buying one until they do

They were the one's that predicted the release of the most recent iPhone. They are pretty accurate, I bet we will be surprised soon.....

The hole on the top left is a light sensor used to alter screen brightness in various settings, its used in the current touch. But the hole on the top right?

That little hole is the light sensor...It detects when theres a lot of light out or too little light and the iPod adjusts its brightness accordingly. It's on the current iPhone 3G, iPod Touch, and iPhone.

would love to see the GPS in the touch, but not sure how someone making a case for the touch would know if a GPS will be inside the unit?
Maybe I am missing something in the artical :(

cool for the GPS but what's up with the "hole" on the top left corner of the front plate?

      Camera or Speaker?

Since GPS would be added, strong chances are that this is a speaker used for turn by turn vocal indications wich is a legal requirement in certain parts of the world to use a GPS in a car.

for GPS to be apart of the ipod touch it would need either a a built in GPS chip with pre-cached maps (unlike google maps) or access to certain data connections while on the go (GSM network). With the latter being unfeasible as it would cross with the iphone's market. Unless Apple has a new Maps application without OTA maps, GPS in the ipod touch is pointless
