    Has Griffin Technology made a boo-boo?

    Today we were informed the new iPhone 3G dimensions have changed. Apparently they are now reported thinner and shorter than the iPhone 3G shells circulating in China and Griffin's new Flexgrip iPhone 3G case.

    Before a silicone case is made, an exact plastic mold of the iPhone 3G must be made to test the fit of the case. We checked the thickness and width of Griffin ’s mold and found the length is 2.0mm longer and 0.5mm thicker than the dimensions of the current iPhone 3g mold. If the new numbers are correct, companies such as Griffin, which has invested a considerable amount of time and money to be first in the market, will be stuck with 10’s of thousands of silicone cases that won’t properly fit the new iPhone 3G.



    When the Griffin mold photos were taken, there were over 4 other companies making iPhone 3G cases. So, dollars to donuts, most used the same dimensions that were originally reported.

    The moment the iPhone 3G is officially released and we have the final dimensions, we will buy as many different iPhone 3G cases which are on the market and will report which cases will fit properly.

    A word of warning….if you buy an iPhone 3G case, make sure the company policy will provide a refund or replacement exchange if it doesn’t  fit properly.

      ye, better a case + screen protector + magnet enclosure

      I agree, Incase is one of the best. I first saw their case on this site and bought one. I had it sent to may family in New York and they sent it me in Shenzhen. It has saved my nano3 a numer of times.
