Once again iPhone rumors are floating in China . The latest is that the next generation iPhone released will not be one iPhone but  two iPhones! Why is China the place where these rumors start? Simple, thousands of people are involved in building iPhone components and those that have the means know how to get inside information, once it starts the information spreads. These rumors are used by accessory manufacturers and agents in China to decide what they will produce, when they will start to manufacturer it and when they should unload their old stock. The right decisions could mean millions of dollars, if you get it right and you get it early. Our Insider diary will give you the rumors as we hear them and we will post photos and dimensions as we see them. If you are an accessory company we don’t have to tell you that you should take the information at your own risk. If you are a consumers, it will be interesting to follow how things unfold.

A Summary Of What We Learned So Far
We know that XSKN and Vaja, 2 major case companies started producing cases. A number of clone companies have iPhone Nano models out in the market. Many accessory companies are making products for iPhone Nano. It seems that the insider information leaked much earlier than the iPhone 3G which means more insiders are being tempted to tell all. Apple has pulled out of MacWorld so their new product announcements are less predicable.  Steve Jobs has to be the person who is going to announce iPhone Nano and he has a temporary health problem. China's state council on Jan 7 approved the issuance of long-awaited licenses for 3G mobile networks, opening the door to some $41 billion in spending for equipment. But this will not happen until early 2009 which means that iPhone Nano will not be 3G.

We feel that iPhone Nano is in production and if our production information is correct then they are making about 2.5 million iPhone Nanos a month, as of Dec 20th. If they need 10 million before they hit the market then don't expect it until the end of March. We believe they will announce it before that. If you come back once a day, you will be the first to know. 

While checks within Apple's supply chain suggest the company is researching a low-end iPhone design, rumors that such a device will surface this year are overly optimistic, according to Lehman Brothers. We don't believe that iPhone Nano is going to be a low end iPhone. It will be the best scaled down smart phone on the market.

Steve Jobs Had A Liver Transplant -The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple CEO Steve Jobs received a liver transplant about two months ago to treat some ongoing complications from his previous pancreatic cancer. According to experts cited by The Wall Street Journal, the reason for a liver transplant may have been from the spread of the original pancreatic cancer into the liver. The exact cure rate for this particular condition with a liver transplant seems to be around the 75% range. Steve is expected to be back at the end of this month.

iPhone knock-offs info TV commericals are hitting Shenzhen. Offering a cheaper iPhone. This is China but I did not expect to see this on TV. Must be inprepartion for the China iPhone launch. 

iPhone 3GS is the code name. The photos depict a front-facing camera which has been on everyone's wishlist since the first iPhone came out. It seems that Apple will introduce video-chat.

The rumor is that Apple is clamping down hard on any of its suppliers who leak details of its new devices.  

The Palm Pre a possible "iPhone killer", hints at what technology could realistically be delivered in the new iPhone. The Palm Pre uses the ARM Cortex-A8 processor which represents the next generation ARM processor that is currently used in the iPhone. Apple is certain to use the ARM Cortex.

I believe if Job's makes the presentation today then we will witness a major event and there is nothing more major that an iPhone Nano. If not then we will see his iPhone playing catch-up by adding a few more bells and wistles to their current model. Smart phones have come a long ways since iPhone and they are hot on Job's heels, he needs a grand slam to stay ahead.

Yesterday I heard from a reliable source that there will be 3 new iPhones launched in June and one of them is a smaller iPhone. Kind of sounds like iPhone Nano, doesn't it?  I think if Steve Jobs is at WWDC then we will get the biggest news story yet from Apple and nothing could be bigger than iPhone Nano. I don't believe that the only news will be a same form factor as iPhone 3G as many sites are reporting because there would be no need for Belkin designers to be here in China making new cases for iPhone, hell there are got enough iPhone 3G cases in China for 3 times the number of iPhones in the market. And our Belkin info is reliable.

Go back to our December 9th, 2008 'No more speculating, the new iPhone is a Nano Phone! '  post, this just might be the iPhone Nano you will see lauched in June. I saw it, held it in my hands and to this date I have not seen an iPhone Nano Clone that is the same thickness, screen size and mirrored front. I found that the mirrored front gave the smaller iPhone a bigger look which is something that Apple could do and would be different in an Apple way if you know what I mean.

We just got word that Belkin’s designers are here in China making sure that their designs for the Apples’s new iPhone 3G will be in the stores the day iPhone 3G hits the streets which is June. We expect this information was meant to be held close to the chest and only a few have access to these images. Wrong again for we also heard that this information has already leaked out to a number of other companies by way of Chinese Guang Xi. Images will be up on our site as we get them.

The Wall Street Journal's sources report that Jobs is still expected to return to Apple in June.  This could be why current rumors are that iPhone will be released in June. Apple needs a home run and Jobs wants to be the one at bat. For sure there will be a new iPhone 3G and maybe, just maybe iPhone Nano will be in the line up.

More reports of 2 new iPhones. They say 'Apple is expected to begin production on a high-end iPHone with 32GB of flash memory and a low-end 3G version this spring, according to a research report released Tuesday by Lazard Capital Markets analyst.

Production is anticipated to begin in April and ramp up in May, and the new phones could be announced in June, Daniel Amir, a Lazard Capital Markets analyst, said in his report.

He noted, however, that the low-end version may only be available in the fast-growing, emerging markets of Brazil, Russia, India, and China, while the high-end version is expected to make its way to North America and Europe.'

Our information is that they started production in December 20th of 2008. If the iPhone nano is for China they will sell over 10,000,000 million units in the first month.

AppleInsider report suggests a spring launch we're leaning to a late summer launch.
The equity research firm used a research note earlier this week to address a report by UK's Daily Mail, which asserted that a low-cost 'iPhone nano' is set to follow on the heels of the iPhone 3G with a release ahead of this year's holiday shopping season.

"While we believe Apple is working on a lower-end iPhone form factor, we do not think one will come until Spring 2009," analyst Ben Reitzes advised clients. He then outlined several reasons supporting his thesis.

First and foremost, Reitzes said, Apple is still struggling to reach a supply and demand balance on its latest handset, the iPhone 3G released just last month. With plans to expand availability of that handset to 50 more countries through the end of the calendar year, releasing a new iPhone model mid-way that process would only threaten to complicate matters.

Reitzes also recalls that Apple customers .....more became furious last year when the company slashed the price of the original iPhone just months after launch, and therefore common sense would suggest that management would be looking to avoid a repeat episode of that scenario, he said.

"While we have picked up indications of a product like this in the supply chain, it doesn’t appear that the company has yet solidified the form factor, so it may be hard to get it finalized in time for the holidays," the analyst added.

In his report Monday, Reitzes also backed a recent report on heightened iPhone production. He said his own checks indicate that Apple will manufacture more than 3 million of the handsets this month alone, making his estimate of 3.8 million units for the September quarter seem overly conservative; Apple sold 1 million of the devices in the first three days alone.

"We believe that strong demand in the initial countries could make a rollout overseas take longer simply based on supply," he said. "We believe that initial demand overseas could be quite strong and estimate 8.3 million iPhones could be sold in [the fiscal first quarter of 2008] (December) with 24.2 million sold in fiscal 2009."

A new rumor has surfaced - A number of Foxconn employees will not be going home for Chinese New Year. The rumor is that they will be working on a secret Apple product. The Chinese New Year is the most important Chinese holiday, workers normally go home for 15 days and China shuts down. Fifteen days production could mean 1.2 million iPhone Nanos.

Macrumors / Digital Times a report from Taiwan's Economic Daily News stating that two chip manufacturers, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company and United Microelectronics Corporation, are expected to receive chip orders for Apple's rumored iPhone nano. The report states that orders would likely come in March, leading to a June release of the iPhone nano at the earliest.

Today we got some information that a few more cases companies are making iPhone Nano cases. Investment in iPhone Nano accessories has not stopped which indicates that more companies have new information or they believe enough in the existing information to continue to invest.

To make sense of all of the rumors you have to see what is happening in the market. As you might of heard there are clones of the new iPhone Nano on the market and we bough 2 of them to show you. Both clone companies are packaging their fakes almost exactly like Apple packages their iPhone. We expect that these clone companies started making their fakes once they felt they had some solid information because their investment is too big to make their own products they need to make what they are best at and that is to make a copy. They start by making plastic and metal molds plus screens and all of the guts that are needed to drive one of these. But before they can start they need the iPhone Nano dimensions then they had to see if they can fit all of their parts into those dimensions, if they can not they try to make as few adjustments to the size as possible.  We estimate that the clone companies started making their clones in the month of October. If this is so they got their inside information in the month of September.







We put an XSKN case on one of these clones. The clone is thicker than what the case is designed for. This must be because the parts used to make a real iPhone Nano are small and more costly. The screen size is small than the screen opening on the XSKN case for the same reason. A smaller screen costs less. The height and width of the clone and the case are nearly dead on.

I just got a call that there newspaper articles in China stating that there is a new iPhone Nano but there are some technical problems with the device. I have not verfied the story yet, I am giving you the news as I promised, the moment I get something I am passing it onto you. For those of you who know China then you know how fast news travels here. The people who have the information pass it on because they want to be part of the craziness, this could be employees, managers etc.  To protect themselves they make sure their identity is hidden.

We Just got word that a major company stopped production on all iPhone Nano accessories. They believe the information they got is not real and want to cut their loses. This is the first negative information we got that might mean that there will be no iPhone Nano. If so a number of accessory and clone companies will lose a lot of money.

Macrumors a leading iPhone insider posted:
Craig Berger, an analyst with Friedman, Billings, Ramsey & Co, reported today that Apple is getting ready to introduce a "lower-cost version" of the iPhone.
"Some call this device the iPhone nano," Berger wrote in a research note. " Whatever one calls it, we believe this device is on its way".

Berger does not expect the product to be ready for a Macworld introduction. The basis for the information is based on "checks" with Apple suppliers. This report adds to a growing number of hints that Apple is preparing what many have labeled an iPhone "Nano" -- a smaller, cheaper version of the current iPhone.

Meanwhile, the analyst also believes that the iPod Shuffle may get even smaller and a cheaper version of the MacBook could also be introduced, possibly in the middle of the 1st quarter of 2009. He does not believe the cheaper MacBook would qualify as a "netbook" -- a market Apple has specifically said they are not interested in pursuing at this time.

Macrumors.com is displaying some images of the real thing. They do cannot cofirm them but I can tell you that I saw the outer shell of what they have on their site. It was shown to me by someone who I never meet before and probably will never meet again. That is the way it is in China. If everthing is as I was told, told Apple has produced over 500,000 iPhone Nanos by today and in a few days will have over 1,000,000 pieces.  From what I've read they expect to sell over 80,000,000 of them. It will be the hotest Apple product ever and once again Apple will rule.

No more speculating, the new iPhone is a Nano Phone ! We just got these images of a silicone case design by www.XSKN.com for the new Nano iPhone. This case is in production. We are not sure when they will release it on their site. The XSKN designs will give you an idea of the shape and size of the new Nano iPhone. We understand that a number of company are producing cases as of last week. If you remember, before iPhone 3G was released a number of companies including Griffin had advanced information of the size and shape of iPhone 3G. We understand that once one company starts making a mold their information is passed onto other mold companies or accessory companies through a China underground network.

A few months ago when we reported that there was going to be a new touch nano we were not that far off the mark, a touch nano was in the works but Apple released a fill in the gap Nano with their 4th Gen multi colored nano. Accessory sales on those are as extremely slow but this Touch Nano iPhone is going to mean that the Apple accessory business is going to be hotter than ever.  And that is of course if all of these rumors prove to be true and we might know that during the Macworld show in January.

No more speculating, the new iPhone is a Nano Phone! It is the same height as the just release Nano but wider and thicker and with the same iPhone 3G contours. It has 3 sensors, camera, mirror screen but no 3G. Production will start on the 20th with 60,000 to 80,000/day pieces coming off the assembly line. Steve Jobs will be announcing it during the January MacWorld Show and you will find it in the stores shortly afterwards. I am putting my money on this as the final new iPhone rumor. This phone is targeted at the people who couldn’t afford an iPhone. I am told it will low priced and sold in Walmart stores along with all of the current resellers. There is a rumor that there will be a new iPod Shuffle too. I expect you will see photos of the new NanoPhone on websites by the 20th and maybe of the new iPod Shuffle. A connected Apple accessory company in Taiwan says that a new iPhone will be release in December. This is what I heard today, I find it hard to believe that Apple would release a new iPhone just when people are buying or have bought iPhones 3Gs for Xmas. It would make more sense to release it in January during the MacWorld Show in San Francisco . If the last rumor is correct and Apple stopped production on their iPhone 3g then they must have enough inventory of their new iPhone to release it December or January. Still we don’t have any photos or any body parts. All we have are rumors and we are passing them onto you as we get them. I hope we will see a body part this month.

A reliable Hong Kong source informed me that the new iPhone will be a Nano iPhone. That may be the reason why Nano went back to the long shape and why our previous rumor about a new nano was a touch nano.

The current rumor is that Apple has stopped production on iPhone 3G. This happened with iPhone a few months before they launched iPhone 3G. This is the best newest I have heard so far and it is in line with the earlier rumors of a new iPhone January 2009. Now I would like to see some photos. Those could be available soon.

More of the same rumors, nothing solid like a photo or body part.

No new rumors or photos or body parts have surfaced. It is a bit too early for accessory companies to start their designs.  As we get closer to December, with a bit of luck, we will see an actual iPhone.

Just got word that a major accessory company has it staff hunting looking for the 3d images used to make the shells or the actual shells. They normally start off with the people they got their iPhone 3G from. If they are successful then we will see some photos soon. Plastic accessories are under the greatest pressure to find the exact dimensions by mid November so that they can have their mold ready for production by December to meet the expect January iPhone launch

Today we heard a rumor that iPhone will have 2 versions. The rumor is that the second version will be a smaller smart phone.

We just got our first Insider sniff of a 3rd generation iPhone being worked on in China. We expected, but not this soon. We will keep you posted in diary fashion as the photos come in.
